Teleforum Program

Our first teleforum will be held on 21 August at 4:00pm.
Sr Margaret Cameron OP will begin the teleforum program with a presentation titled, An Experience of Empowering Lay Leadership in Parishes.

The second teleforum will be held on 16 October between 4pm and 5pm EST. Trish Madigan OP will speak about what's happening in the area of Interfaith Relations. Among many things, Trish has been an Australian delegate at the four intergovernment conferences titled, International Dialogue on Interfaith Cooperation for Peace and Harmony.

You can register for the teleforum by emailing director.opw@catholic.org.au and request a registration form. The cost for one line in the teleforum is $20. We look forward to you being part of this program.

Applications are now being accepted for the
2009 Young Catholic Women’s Interfaith Fellowship.
The fellowship is available to Catholic women aged mid 20’s to mid 30’s to:
- be skilled in leadership,
   theology and principles of interfaith dialogue
- work towards the building of religious and
   peaceful coexistence and
- provide models of encounter, dialogue and cooperation
   within and among religious and spiritual communities.

Diocesan Contacts from Queensland Gather

Last Thursday Diocesan Contacts from Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane and Toowoomba gathered at Mercy Place, Bardon to discuss the participation of women in the Church. Cathy Spencer, Jean Tanzer, Bernadette Kreutzer and Sue Flood traveled to be part of this discussion.
Throughout the day a variety of topics were discussed including a reflection on World Youth Day. Fran Byrne, Archdiocese of Brisbane, World Youth Day Secretariat highlighted the many positive aspects of this great event in the Catholic Church in Australia and detailed the experiences in Parishes following the week in Sydney.
While there was no denying the wonderful experiences and opportunities for young Catholics to express their faith in such a public way, concern was also raised about the model of Church that was presented as part of this celebration.
